PROPHETIC WORD OF THE LORD

I bet that title got your attention.

Over the years I have heard too many Christians uttering these words and expecting everyone to drop everything they are doing to hear what they have to say. Many times, it is a bunch of nonsense or is out of tune with the Bible that it is not even worth your time and not even Biblical. If asked where they get this "prophetic" information they want to share, they will often tell you that God has shared it to them or such and such an angel visited them and revealed it to them. Some will even claim many secular sources or even others who utter similar words to theirs. With no way to prove or validate their claims, and just expect you to take their word for it.

This can be very dangerous in a number of ways. This is also how so many of the cults such as Jim Jones' The Peoples Temple, Heaven's Gate, and so many others got started. They are dangerous and can easily lead to deception and many false teachings. I have heard so many say that the people in these and other groups were very nice and seemed so sincere, only to find out later that they have opened the door and walked in. Only later to find out they are trapped with no obvious way out. That is how Satan operates. He and his followers often come across so nice and sincere, only to lead you down the path to eternal damnation and separation from God.

The Word of God, the Holy Bible, tells us:

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
(1 Thessalonians 5:21)

....they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
(Acts 17:11)

Just because someone uses the phrase "Prophetic Word of the Lord," does not mean you have to stop and listen to what they have to say, especially when there is no proof or Biblical backing or basis for what they are saying. All they will often do is lead you into confusion, never ending discussions and eventually arguments with everyone about the meaning of what they are saying, and down the path away from Christ.

Remember, not everyone who starts out with "Prophetic Word of the Lord" is of Christ or saying His Words.
