EVEN IF YOU DISAGREE WITH THEM, PRAY FOR OUR LEADERS

Many people have referred to Psalm 109 as "The Obama Psalm." Verses 8 and 9 of the Psalm says:

Let his days be few; and let another take his office. Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.

Now many people use this to try to justify their wanting to see both the President and other politicians dead. And I personally know some that actually pray for it. But is this Biblical? What does the Bible have to say concerning this? 1 Timothy 2:1-4 KJV has the answer:

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Many people hate the president and want to see him dead. Just because we may not like or go along with what he is doing, is no justification to have this attitude towards him or anyone else. As Christians, we must follow Biblical teaching and pray for our leaders, as they are appointed to their positions by God. We may not like them or what they are doing, but that does not give us the right to want to see them dead. We need to pray that God will open their hearts, ears, and eyes to the truth and what they need to be doing for the good of all.
